E. Guigal Description
La Turque is Guigal's latest addition to the single-vineyard Cote Roties, acquired in 1985. It is also the smallest, with just under a hectare planted to 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier. Situated on a vertiginous slope in the center of the Côte Brune that enjoys perfect southern exposure, the vineyard benefits from a complex soil of shale and iron oxide that lends finesse to the wine.
Wine Spectator: 96 Points
Very distinctive, with ganache and espresso aromas and well-structured layers of blackberry, mulled plum, roasted spice, anise and charred apple wood. This has ample grip, but stays polished and integrated, allowing for an almost caressing mouthfeel despite its obvious density. One of the most concentrated wines in the vintage. Best from 2012 through 2025. 400 cases made.
Stephen Tanzer: 96 Points
"Bright purple-red color. Intensely floral bouquet displays spicy red berries, violet, rose and minerals, with a touch of singed orange lending an exotic character. Livelier and more feminine than the Mouline today, with tangy red berry and cherry flavors and a late note of candied flowers. The spicy note comes back on the finish, which is impressively fresh and incisive. 93-96 Points"
