Albarino is the perfect warm weather wine! |
This week’s Wine of the Week features 2020 La Val Albarino! Established in 1985, Bodegas La Val was one of the first wineries in DO Rias Baixas located in the Galicia region of northwestern Spain. La Val’s wines are produced from 100% estate grown grapes, which is unusual for the area as most wineries buy from local growers. With its refreshing acidity, citrus fruit notes, and mineral characteristics, Albarino is the shining star of Galicia and 90% of the vines are planted to it. Albarino grapes are grown in a unique way: on high trellises known as parrales, so that they don’t touch the ground but also receive maximum sun exposure while also allowing for better air flow and grape ripening. La Val Albarino is highly aromatic with aromas of citrus fruits and fresh herbs. It’s zesty and clean on the palate displaying more citrus notes and a refreshing minerality, followed by a long, racy finish and hints of honeysuckle. Enjoy chilled on a warm summer day or with oysters, seafood risotto, fish tacos, grilled veggies, and burrata. Take home 2020 La Val Albarino for only $12.99 this week while supplies last. Cheers! |
