This refreshing Picpoul is the perfect warm weather wine! |
This week’s Wine of the Week features 2020 Moulin De Gassac Picpoul de Pinet from Languedoc, France! In 1970, Aimé Guibert and his wife, Veronique acquired what was then a very run-down vineyard, just west of Montpelier. With a dream of growing quality wines, they knew just how valuable the soil at the foot of the Gassac hills was for grape growing. The clay-limestone soils surrounding the Thau Lagoon are dry and well-drained which enables grapes to reach full maturity with a superb concentration of flavors. What started off as a dream for the Guibert family has turned into a family tradition of winemaking, with his five sons now working the estate and continuing his legacy. This Picpoul is a lovely gold color in the glass with aromas of yellow flowers and limes. On the palate, it is crisp and fresh with notes of melon, honey, pear, and a hint of lemon zest and minerality. Enjoy by itself on a warm spring day or pair with salmon, swordfish, oysters, Mediterranean dishes, or fresh salads. Take home a bottle of 2020 Moulin De Gassac Picpoul de Pinet for only $10.99 this week while supplies last. Cheers! |
