Orange wine is the rosé for fall! |
![]() |
It’s no secret that orange (or skin-contact) wines are all the rage right now, especially as we enter into the cooler months. Though they’re totally just as drinkable in the summertime, the strong tannins often present in orange wines offer an earthy bitterness that pairs especially well with chilly evenings and leaf-peeping. That being said, we present to you this week’s Wine of the Week: 2020 Contatto Arinto Vinho Verde! Casal de Ventozela consists of 45 hectares of sustainably farmed vineyards in the heart of the Vinho Verde region in northwest Portugal. This family owned estate has a strong commitment to the environment and a genuine passion for nature and of course, wine. No chemicals or pesticides of any kind are used and everything is hand-harvested by a team of about 30 people. Contatto Arinto is made with sustainably farmed Vinho Verde grapes. It’s a lighter style, refreshing orange wine that sees two weeks of skin-contact and has lovely honeyed aromas with notes of almond and yellow peaches. It’s nice and dry on the palate with some stone fruit flavors and a subtle kick of salinity on the finish. This is an excellent intro to skin-contact wines if you’re looking to venture into the world of orange and natural wines or maybe just try something different. A very nice match with hummus, lamb, grilled fish, butternut squash, walnuts, or semi-hard cheeses. 2020 Contatto Arinto Vinho Verde will be featured on sale all week while supplies last for just $12.99.
