Gruner Veltliner is Austria’s flagship grape varietal, accounting for 37% of total wine production in the country. The best Gruner is produced in Lower Austria or Niederosterreich where weathered rock and loess soils, good temperature variation between day and night, and a moderate climate with an abundance of sunshine allow for ideal grape-growing conditions.
