This week’s featured wine is 2020 Niepoort Nat Cool “Drink Me” from Bairrada, Portugal!

This unique wine made from the obscure Baga grape comes from one of Portugal’s most respected wine families. Though most famous for their Port production, the Niepoort family also has an excellent line of organic table red wines and Nat Cool is among their best-sellers. (Their red blend is also this month’s Wine of the Month Club selection!) All grapes in the vineyard are organically and biodynamically grown on some of the oldest vines in the country.

Nat Cool “Drink Me” is a naturally cool, lighter-style red made from organically grown grapes with minimal intervention or additives. It’s dangerously easy to drink and very juicy, bursting with red fruit flavors and distinct minerality. Did we mention it comes in a 1L bottle?!

Fresh, direct, and very seductive, this “porch-pounder” red is perfect with a slight chill on it or served with fish, duck, mushroom dishes, or a variety of cheeses.
